Ward 7 also given barriers to 2 key entrances to Simcoe County Forest

The City of Barrie has set up motorized vehicle barrier controls to restrict snowmobiles, as well as ATVs and motocross bikes from parks and natural areas.

The city continues to implement control measures along the North Shore Trail, Ardagh Bluffs and Hewitt's Creek. Barrier controls are now in place at the St. Vincent Street bridge crossing and the Johnson's Beach bridge crossing on the North Shore Trail.

The control measures consist of marked gates and bollards, which allow for the movement of pedestrians, but not motorized vehicles.

Staff will continue to implement control methods throughout the city to reduce vehicular traffic in key open space and environmentally sensitive areas.

Also included at the request of Ward 7 Councillor John Brassard are control devices on City owned property on Lougheed and the Columbia Rd pathway both of which are key entrance points to the Simcoe County forest.
